Opie is a handsome 44 lb 10 month old puppy who is looking for an experienced bulldog owner who will help him catch up on training and will manage his special medical issue which is megaesophagus. This condition, in which the esophagus is enlarged, requires dogs to be fed a softer diet in an elevated position. This helps the food to pass successfully into the stomach. There is lots of info available online and any applicant must do some reading about this issue prior to applying to adopt Opie. This condition ranges from mild to severe and Opie seems to be someplace in the middle. He has now been trained to eat his softened kibble on a short set of stairs so that he eats at a 45 degree angle. When it is time to eat, he runs to his stairs and gets “in position.” He also needs to receive two medications 30-45 mins prior to mealtime to help with his condition. These medications are relatively inexpensive and are estimated to cost 8-10 dollars a month.
Opie is behind on his training and needs to learn basic obedience commands. He is progressing with his potty training but will need continued training in this area. He is a sweet little guy who is very eager to please. He was just neutered and had his palate corrected at the same time.
