Meet Bessie
Bessie, Age 3–4 Years, is a sweet peach of a Bulldog with a story that starts in the Central Valley, where she was likely abandoned in a rural area. Luckily, local animal control picked her up, had her spayed, and cared for her until NorCal Bulldog Rescue could bring her into foster care. While with her foster family, she underwent successful surgery to correct bilateral entropion and is now recovering beautifully. She will need ongoing prescription eye drops, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit.
Now for the fun part: Bessie’s foster mom describes her as affectionate, happy, and full of confidence, celebrating life at every opportunity. She greets mealtimes with joyful anticipation, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is a pro at using a dog door. She even managed to win the hearts of the entire veterinary staff during her recovery from surgery.
Her playful personality really shines when you hear this: after a couple of weeks, Bessie decided her kennel buddy, Robbie Ray (another rescue), didn’t need to be separated by a mere cyclone fence. She scaled a 32-inch barrier so they could spend their days together. Now they often nap in the same bed and politely respect each other’s meals. They’d make a fantastic duo if adopted together!
Bessie’s Highlights:
-
Loving & Social – Affectionate with people, enjoys other dogs, and charms everyone she meets.
-
Clever & Playful – Figured out how to climb a fence to be with her best buddy, Robbie Ray.
-
House Savvy – Knows how to use a dog door and thrives in a fenced yard environment.
Bessie is currently in foster care on the SF Peninsula.
Her adoption fee is $550, and a fenced yard is required.
