Mira

Mira

Mira:  meaning is wonderful, astonishing and the root word for miracle.

My foster mom says I am wonderful and considering the sad circumstances of my past life, I am also something of a miracle. She says I am a soft, quiet, gentle girl. I was found as a stray in the Central Valley. The shelter worker named me Mira and called Norcal Bulldog Rescue to see if they could help me. I had a skin infection around my fanny and all down my back legs. But the worst problem was that my eyes were so infected that I couldn’t see. The shelter thought I was completely blind. I was a long way from the nearest rescue volunteer but one of the shelter volunteers drove me almost 3 hours to my foster mom.

I was put on an antibiotic for my skin and eye medications to treat the infections and improve my vision. Now I have been spayed, had surgery to correct my entropion and cherry eye and to remove a lump on my shoulder.   I  have been started on eye drops to increase tear production to compensate for my dry eyes which I will need ongoing.  While my vision will likely be less than normal, my improvement is miraculous. From walking into walls, I can now see a cookie in my foster mom’s hand. And my vet is optimistic that my vision will continue to improve. My estimated age is approx. 5 years. When I first arrived in my foster home I was very fearful of other dogs since I couldn’t see them. Now I enjoy hanging out with two other rescue fosters here.  They are both nice and polite roomies. I know how to use a dog door. If you are interested in a soft sweet girl who would love to hang out with you and sit by your chair, please complete an application at www.norcalbulldogrescue and indicate your interest in Mira.
