Meet Robbie Ray – Your Future Best Friend in the Making!
At just 1½ years old, Robbie Ray has already been through quite the journey. Surrendered to a Bay Area shelter as a “stray,” this handsome boy arrived wearing a tiny shirt meant to hide severe hair loss from untreated demodex. Likely starting as a simple puppy skin issue, it went unaddressed, costing him more than 60% of his fur. Heartbreakingly, the right flea control early on could have prevented it. As his condition worsened, he was likely kept hidden away, making new experiences a challenge for him.
When Robbie first arrived at his foster home, he trembled for hours—until he realized he was safe. Then, that sweet, gentle personality began to shine. These days, he still gets a little shaky during first-time experiences—like car rides, baths, or vet visits—but his recovery time is now short, and he’s learning every day that the world isn’t so scary. His confidence has grown immensely thanks to his best buddy Bessie (check out her profile, too!).
Robbie is athletic, loves walks, enjoys learning to play with toys, and has a special weakness for dog bones smeared with peanut butter. Once thin and frail, he’s now filling out nicely thanks to his foster mom’s home-cooked meals. His hair is making a slow but steady comeback, and while he’ll need ongoing eye drops for dry eye, he’s currently on no oral meds. This diamond in the rough just needs a loving home willing to give him time, patience, and plenty of love to bring out his best self.
